Welcome to 8-2! Another new school year. Like anything new, a new school year allows you an opportunity to "wipe the slate clean", and to establish new goals and routines. It is a time that is full of great anticipation, excitement and trepidation by students, parents and teachers. The cool thing about a new school year, is that we really have very little control over how things will play out. Sure we can control our effort and behaviour to a certain extent, however extenuating circumstances often lead us in directions (both good and bad) that we hadn't bargained for.
Having said this, it is important that we make a good impression at the start of a new school year. A bad first impression is difficult to overcome and can start us down a path that answers the title of the blog very quickly. Let's hope your first day wasn't as bad as Billy Madison's (Adam Sandler). Check out this clip:

So as you can plainly see, people react differently to the beginning of the school year. This is good, because if we were all the same the world would be a boring place to live in.
Let me know what you think of the new school year. What do you anticipate? Are you excited about the possibilities? Do you have any trepidations?
